Location was the only good part of this holiday. This campsite focuses more on activities they provide than getting the basics right with facilities such as clean working toilets and showers , no toilet roll constantly.

Lovely location and the site is good but it is the showers and toilets that are dirty they need more with the amount of people on site it is not enough. I could not understand the communal showers with just a curtain surely these need to be cubicles with doors There was no toilet rolls in some of the toilets and very busy at times. Would not recommend due to this

“A Weekend to Forget” If you’re dreaming of a scenic Welsh getaway, this campsite is not it. What we found was two overcrowded fields packed wall-to-wall, with pitches crammed so tightly you’d struggle to swing a kettle lead. We were placed right beside a peeling, grubby building that felt more derelict than rustic. Facilities? The showers were genuinely the worst I’ve ever experienced—no water pressure at all. I had to literally cup handfuls of water and throw it on myself to get clean. The toilets were just as bad, and don’t expect toilet roll either. Yes, it’s near a river and yes, you can rent a canoe, but honestly, the site itself was so dismal that those positives didn’t make up for the experience. False advertising at its finest. If you’re after fresh air, comfort, or even the basics of hygiene, do yourself a favour: pitch your tent literally anywhere else.

Very disappointed with our stay. We booked back in December for two adults for two nights for £45, however when we arrived I had to pay £66. I was only offered half the money back, with the blame pushed onto the “old owner.” On arrival we were also placed in the wrong pitch and later moved to an electric pitch, but the pitches aren’t properly marked out so you feel crammed in with no space or privacy. Facilities were also poor – only one toilet working, and the toilets and showers were not clean at all. The sink/washing-up area was left full of food, and it feels like staff aren’t really sure what they’re doing. There was also no useful information provided about what’s around the site or nearby. Staff seem more focused on activities and keeping the café going. Such a shame, as this site does have potential to be an excellent all-rounder, but right now it falls far short of expectations.

Stayed here a few weeks ago, it's a nice site in a great location, a few min drive from Hay-on-Wye. Owner was great with advice on paddleboarding the river as online information is patchy. Our only issue was the showers only had a flimsy curtain separating them, ok if you are showering next to family but not if a stranger came to shower at the same time. To make it more private some other campers locked the bathroom however this meant no-one else could access the toilets in this time. Just frustrating. Also the sinks to wash dishes empties into an old trough underneath that in the sun stank of rotten food. It's a nice site, could do with a few small upgrades to make it an amazing site.

Came in a big group and caused a bit of a ruckus which we felt very bad about because the owners reported a few guests had left. We would like to apologise. We left after one night and moved to a different one. Otherwise campsite is well equipped and has great food offerings.

A beautifully landscapes campsite next to the river Wye, perfect for canoeing. I've been coming here for the last 4 years and have always found it to be a cracking little site. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, good facilities - free hot water and plenty of it. There's a cafe on site which serves pizza in the evenings and a chip van calls on a Saturday night. There's a handy covered outdoor seating area and if you want to canoe, you're right on the river. Thanks Rob & Team for another great weekend!

This campsite was very disappointing. I'm not one to normally leave reviews but felt it is needed to warn others. This is not a campsite for families! The toilet and shower facilities were absolutely diabolical! On arrival I was told that once the toilets get blocked they will then open the others! Quite clean at times but other times disgusting. 2 toilets and 2 showers in the first open block and once that was then blocked it was then only 2 toilets ans about 5 showers. I had to shower my toddler whilst there and no way to control the temp of the shower as was just a push button. After a few pushes the shower just stopped working! No where to even hang anything or put anything except the floor when showering. Locks not working and not kept up together. Also told the site was overbooked and wanted to squeeze our party of 3 tents all close together so they could fit everyone in. On the Sunday evening about 5.30pm they had a drain system brought in and were pumping it out I think and the smell was absolutely disgusting. I was walking around the site at the time and you could see people with their jumpers over their faces and some even trying to have bbqs whilst this was going on! Luckily we went to the pub down the road that evening and it was so nice to use a decent lockable toilet! We will definitely not be going back and would strongly advise that the site based on its current facilities that others also do not go and would not recommend. Also giving the very poor facilities we paid a lot of money for this site and you can pay less for so much more! Also the area we were told to put our tents was basically dry mud and hardly any grass! The only positive is that the staff were friendly! Not a good camping experience!!

Spacious campsite, we booked for Hay festival. Bit of a way out so will need a car or use the bus! Friendly staff. Had a pizza night one night which was handy. Basic pizza, but tasty. Small bar you can get refreshments. No milk or shopping bits sold there so grab yours before you go. Quiet night in the camper. Pub within walking distance 'Foyles'. Very basic shower facilities. Kept as clean as possible. Reminded me of school days, but got us clean and water was hot.

I went away for the bank holiday weekend with my family and was extremely underwhelmed, disappointed and frankly disgusted with the campsite and the facilities!! Especially after the absolute fortune we paid to stay here. Firstly, the staff were all lovely and that is the only reason why I’m giving the review 2 stars instead of 1. We were placed on an awful section of the field where we had little to no grass! We asked if we could move our tents around and got told that they’ve over booked for the weekend so couldn’t move - the campsite stayed half empty the whole time we were here. No pitch markings either. When arrived we were told and I quote “there is currently two toilets and two showers for the whole campsite. When these get blocked, we’ll open the other ones in the house”; low and behold, those toilets did eventually block. The toilets and showers in both places were cleaned terribly, no where to put your things when showering, doors broken, locks not working, mud, grass and god knows what blocking the drains. When people did use the showers, the whole floor was then flooded! I would not recommend this place to anyone nor would I ever return. Do not waste your time or money, there are nicer campsites around that are cheaper.
